GENERATE is a group show that celebrates the collective creative power of our regional artist community. Curated by the director of the pop-up dining room gallery EAT/ART space, and in collaboration with 123 West Main Gallery.

The third and final Yard pARTy took place on a hot summer day. Over 100 people RSVP’d to and 24 artitss offered their creative projects to the community, with everything from magic, storytelling, painting, watercolor, ceramics, embroidery, figure drawing, and more!

An interactive reverse-storytelling experience by Cory Howard alongside the work of five regional visual artists, this exhibit features Anna Buchanan, Lyn Govette, Suzanne Koett, Carla Taylor, and Camille Woods.

Curator and artist Jocelyn Mathewes shares an investigation into the symptoms and effects of chronic illness, its related treatments and medical procedures, and their effects the psyche and body. A variety of mediums intermingle in much the way that medication, physical symptoms, and mental health do.

Yvonne Dalschen’s photographs provide an escape from a filtered experience, by creating portals to new adventure using discarded technology, and abstracting idealized natural forms. And in Steve Denton’s paintings, fresh characters and narratives take center stage in his disarming folk art, drawing us out from our regular day-to-day into his own world of story.

Imaginative and surreal landscape by Morgan Bakaletz and Travis Goyette’s geometric and patterned collage-work both embrace pattern and texture.

Anna Whitted creates enveloping translations of stimulating space, texture, and color, while Bonnie Kelley celebrates the beauty and unique qualities of animals. Both of these artists draw from a deep love of the natural world — one focused the earth itself, and the other focused on the live animals that inhabit it.

Tony Henson's work in large acrylic on canvas is expressive, kinetic, and synesthetic. Using traditional oil paints, Shawn Quilliams' art creates narratives drawing from deep personal history in Appalachia.

Working with enamel, acrylic, and alcohol ink, Elena Corradino explores scientific concepts in the natural world through vibrant geometric compositions in layered resin.

Textile artist Laura Bowman’s knotted sculptures come together in a slow, deliberate process that yields movement in color, line, and three dimensional space.

Painter and observer in time Mary Nees creates plein-air landscapes that are “like a lovely appetizer before a coming banquet.”

In our special first anniversary show, contemplative photographer Susan Patrice’s enveloping landscapes are paired with self-described “memory collector” Donna Moore’s solargrams, which trace the passage of time.

In her figurative paintings, Katie Murphy draws from subjects in her personal life to explore exterior and interior space.
